Is Pickle Lake Medical a staffing agency?

Pick Lake  Medical Canada is a specialist healthcare staffing agency who provides high quality talent across Canada. As a renowned recruiter in the industry, we offer a range of per-diem and travel contracts. By working with us, you will also have your own dedicated consultant and compliance team to take care of you along the way.

What do I wear to an assignment?

This will depend on the facility and unit you are assigned.  All clothing should be clean, well fitted, and free of wrinkles or distress.  All clothing must allow for quick, efficient movement as necessary in the performance of job duties, including emergencies.

Can I use my cell phone at work?

Personal phone calls on the unit during work time are prohibited, except in emergency situations.  All behavior in patient areas and at the nurses’ station shall be oriented toward patient care.

Am I required to work holidays?

Pickle Lake Medical Employees agree to work all scheduled shifts as directed by Client (including weekends and holidays).

Can I wear my wedding ring at work?

Maybe, jewelry is to be kept at a minimum and be in keeping with the general safety and infection control practices for the employee and the patient. Long dangling earrings, large or excessive necklaces and/or bracelets and sharp rings are not acceptable.  Also, fingernails must be kept short, clean, and natural; no artificial applications are to be worn.

What if I get sick during an assignment?

Pickel Lake Employees agree to notify Client of any unscheduled absence at least two (2) hours prior to beginning a shift and to notify Pickle Lake Medical Staffing within twenty-four (24) hours to report the unscheduled absence.

What information will I receive about the benefits?

Pickle Lake Benefits Team will send you the Benefits Guide that summarizes all of the plans and rates. You will also receive an enrollment form.

What services does your homecare agency provide?

Our homecare agency offers a range of services, including personal care assistance, medication reminders, companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

How do I know if my loved one needs homecare services?

If your loved one experiences difficulty with daily activities, struggles with mobility, or requires assistance with personal care tasks, it may be time to consider homecare services. If you are concerned about the safety and wellbeing of your loved one and wish to promote their independence, we may be able to help you navigate your  choices.  Our team can conduct an assessment to determine specific needs and options available to you.

Are your care partners trained and qualified?

Yes, all of our care partners undergo training and are certified in caregiving. We carefully screen and select professionals with the right skills and compassion to provide high-quality care to our clients. After an assessment is completed, a match making process is conducted ensuring the care partners have the necessary experience for the case as well as the meet personality preferences of the client. 

Can I customize the care plan to suit my loved one's needs?

Absolutely. We understand that each individual has unique needs. Our team works closely with clients and their families to create a personalized care plan that addresses specific requirements and preferences.

How do you ensure the safety of your clients at home?

Safety is our top priority. We conduct home safety assessments, provide training to caregivers on safety protocols, and implement measures to prevent accidents. Our goal is to create a secure and comfortable environment for our clients wherever they call home.

What is the process for getting started with your homecare services?

To get started, simply contact us to schedule a free consultation. During the consultation, we'll discuss your needs, answer any questions you may have, and develop a customized care plan tailored to your requirements.

Can I change the care schedule if needed?

Yes, we understand that needs may change over time. We offer flexibility in scheduling and can accommodate changes as necessary. Just inform our team in advance, and we will make the necessary adjustments.

How does billing and payment work for your services?

What are the costs for your services?

Billing for our home care services is typically done on an hourly basis.

What is the difference if I were to hire my own caregiver?

This is an option that is available to you.  You must decide what works best for you and your situation. Some of the advantages we include is managing the scheduling absences, conflicts,and changes as well as the taxes, benefits and insurance for the care provider.  Our goal is to make things simple for you and your loved one in a professional and caring way.
